IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patrick Polzin
Sr.
December 25, 1944 – April 18, 2024
Pat Polzin Sr., a beloved resident of Winfield, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 18, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 25, 1944, in Chicago to Henry and Florence Polzin, Pat's life journey was marked by service, love, and a deep commitment to family.
Pat honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967, embodying the values of dedication and sacrifice. Following his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career with the Local 597 Pipe Fitters Union, where he dedicated over three decades of his life, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and community.
In the midst of life's challenges, Pat found love and companionship anew. After the loss of his first wife, Linda, he serendipitously crossed paths with Alice Gangler through her daughter, who quickly became his favorite server. Their love story blossomed, and they shared two decades of joy, laughter, and cherished memories. In the face of adversity, Pat's unwavering spirit and love for Alice remained steadfast, a testament to the depth of their bond.
Pat found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid golfer, he experienced the thrill of achieving a hole-in-one, a testament to his skill and passion for the sport. Together with Alice, he found comfort in their daily ritual of watching Jeopardy, followed by evenings filled with games, puzzles, and the laughter of their great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Alice Ann Polzin, his loving sons, Patrick (Lauren) Polzin Jr. and Adam (Floramae) Polzin, his cherished grandson, Bryce, and his step-children, Sue (Scott) Dettloff, Julie (Randy) Barbee, Anne (Sven) Flodstrom, and Laurie (Pat) McDonnell, his step-grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Krueger, Matthew (Daisy) Krueger, Mark (Daniella) Krueger, Anna, and Ariel Barbee, Sven Flodstrom and Ross, Maria, Sarah and Joe McDonnell, and his great-grandchildren Gwen, Wyatt, Colt, Gavin and Olivia, who brought great joy to his life.
Pat was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Polzin, his parents, Henry and Florence Polzin, and his sister, Diane Polzin. Though he may have departed this world, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A visitation to celebrate Pat's life will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, located at 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m., with interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
