Patrick John Byrnes, age 80, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died April 16, 2024, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois.  He was born November 30,1943 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to James and Pearl Byrnes.

Patrick spent most of his childhood in Twin Falls, Idaho. He graduated from The University of Idaho with a degree in Business. Patrick was an infantry officer in the US Army, serving in Vietnam, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.  Patrick and Barbara Anne married in 1977 and welcomed their son, Ryan, in 1981. Patrick enjoyed serving as softball coach to his son's teams for many years. In retirement, he loved spending time with his son's family, grandpuppy (Ella) and new granddaughter (Cora).

He is survived by his son Ryan (Carrie) Byrnes, granddaughter Cora Anne Byrnes, and one brother, James (Marlene) Byrnes from Boise, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Barbara Anne Byrnes.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25th, from 4-8 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26th, at 10:30 A.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to the American Cancer Society .
