Patricia Stahler, nee Curry, age 87, a resident of Wheaton, IL, went to be with the Lord, on Monday, November 22, 2021, peacefully at home with her husband at her side. She was born September 15, 1934 in Chicago to D. English and Marion Curry.

Pat grew up in Elmwood Park and graduated from Proviso Township High School in Maywood, where she met Richard Stahler in 1950. She attended one year at Purdue University and later completed courses at Moody Bible Institute. She married Richard on June 4, 1955. While Dick was serving in the Marine Corps, they lived in Virginia, Florida, Texas, California and then settled in Illinois.

She was an active volunteer: refugee resettlement, church choir, local and state officer in DAR and other heritage organizations, Wheaton Garden Club, College Church STARS disabilities program, mentoring in gardening for boys in the Juvenile Detention Center, and PTA.

She was an accomplished genealogist and delighted in helping others discover their family histories. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening. She and Dick traveled throughout the US, and to Israel and Europe.

Pat was a loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Richard Stahler; five children, Cindy (John Obenland) Duranceau of Naperville, Karen (Patrick) Doiel of Lake Summerset, Julie Stahler of Naperville, Greg (Liz) Stahler of Wheaton, and Doug Stahler of Vero Beach, Florida; fourteen grandchildren, David Doiel, Tony Stahler, John M. Obenland, Sarah Baxter, Stephanie Vogel, Andrew Duranceau, Victoria Arnold, Shannon Doiel, Peyton Stahler, Lexi Stahler, Madison Stahler, Ethan Stahler, Sydney Stahler, and Nolan Stahler; five great-grandchildren, Eli, Owen, Liam, and Lucy Vogel, and Noelle Obenland; and her siblings, Henry Curry, Marion Gallee and Tom Curry.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Driskell, her parents, and son-in-law Steven Duranceau.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 10: 00 a.m. at College Church. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
