Patricia "Lynn" Mangum, age 65, a resident of Wheaton since 1976, died Thursday, January 13th at the Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born on February 19, 1945 in Jackson, Mississippi, to James O. and Bonnie Berry Rogers.

Lynn graduated from Forest Hill High School in Jackson, Mississippi and then attended Hinds Jr. College in Raymond, Mississippi. During college she worked at her family's grocery store. She studied music and was a soprano soloist in the Hinds Jr. College Choir. She was also a member of the Hinds High Steppers and traveled and performed throughout the United States and Canada. She met Wallace Mangum at Hinds Jr. College and they married December 19, 1965. They lived in Jackson, Mississippi, and Kansas City, Kansas where their only son, John Andrew, was born. After moving to West Chicago, she worked at International Harvester, which became Dresser Industries, in Libertyville. She went on to work for Navistar International Financial in the information technology department in Schaumburg and Rolling Meadows and retired in November of 1998.

She enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, camping, boating and fishing. She also enjoyed singing, bowling, cooking and relished Coca Cola. She was also a practical joker.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Wallace, one son John (Karon, nee Koehler) Mangum of Winfield, one sister, Jimmie (Wm. Barry) Davis of Punta Gorda, Florida, her aunts, Bobbye Lewis, Pat Marzarelli and Minnie Rogers and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her aunt, Mollie Stewart.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 16, from 1:00 until the time of a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A graveside service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Wheaton Cemetery, 1209 S. Warrenville Rd. in Wheaton.
