Pat Gurney of Wheaton, IL and formerly of Patterson, IA, age 70, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016. She was born on December 26, 1945 in Des Moines, IA.
Patricia Ann Gurney was the daughter of Hubert and Denzel DeBok. She graduated from Winterset High School and Computer School in Des Moines. Pat was married to Craig Gurney on September 7, 1974 in Patterson, IA. She worked for Employers Mutual Insurance in Des Moines, Millers National Illinois Group in Chicago, IL and DuPage County for 25 years, all in the computer or IT field.
Pal and Craig were married almost 42 years, thoroughly enjoying each other's companionship. They have had a passion for traveling to most states, sightseeing, and visiting numerous landmarks. They learned about the history of the locations. A highlight was being able to drive a Dale Earnhardt car around the Charlotte Speedway. Attendance to the Covered Bridge Festival was made annually, purchasing souvenirs and crafts that were proudly displayed in their home. Pat loved to do 1,000 piece puzzles, read, take photos and repurpose antiques.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Hubert, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Craig of Wheaton, IL; three sisters, Vicky (Jerry) Morgan of Indianola, Christy (Jim) Myers of Indianola, and Penny Cowman of Monroe; and her brother-in-law, Lloyd (Nancy) of Halie, ID.
Funeral services were held in Winterset, IA with burial at Montpelier Cemetery near Patterson, IA.
