Patricia Jean Giuffre's Obituary
Patricia J. Giuffre, age 65, a resident of Jacksonville, Florida, died January 30, 2014 near her home. She was born September 30, 1948 in Mobridge, South Dakota.
She lived in Timber Lake, South Dakota until her adulthood, and attended Timber Lake Public High School, graduating in 1968. She worked at the Timber Lake Topic and Prairie Stationer during high school. She moved to Chicago in 1983. On September 29,1984 she married Steve Giuffre, and started a family in Wheaton, where they lived for 20 years. Shortly after the passing of her husband, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida.
She was a homemaker and also worked at Jewel-Osco for about 5 years. She volunteered at her children's school and was involved in the PTA. She was very involved in her church and dedicated herself to serving The Lord and others. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary for 50+ years, was involved in First Baptist Church in Timber Lake, South Dakota, and Wheaton Wesleyan Church where she was a member and active in different areas of the church. She attended St. Catherine's and Trinity Lutheran church in Jacksonville.
She enjoyed arts and crafts, quilting, puzzles, walking and shopping. She also enjoyed surrounding herself with others and loved making connections with those around her. She was known for always remembering birthdays and was meticulous in sending cards for all events. She was a selfless, kind, and gentle individual who was always thinking of others.
She is survived by her son, Steven Elden Giuffre, Jr.; her daughter, Sharon Jean Giuffre; her granddaughter, Marilynne Jean Humphrey-Sewell; and her brother James Byington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven, in 2011.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Wheaton Wesleyan Church, 1300 S. President St., Wheaton, IL 60189, with a time of visitation to follow. Interment will be private at Wheaton Cemetery.
