Patricia Reece
Ellis
November 16, 1928 – July 23, 2018
Patricia Reece Ellis age 89, formally of Glen Ellyn and Wheaton, passed away peacefully Monday, July 23, 2018. Preceded in death by her husband, A. Barry Ellis, she is survived by her sons Andrew and his wife, Suzanne; Matthew and his wife Lynette and their three sons, Oliver, Ian, and Addison. She is also survived by her daughter, Anne Kate Ellis, of Indianapolis and her children Sarah, Kevin, and Jeffrey, and great-grandson Rohan. She is also survived by her brother John S. Reece and his wife, Kelly, of Portland, Oregon.
Patricia, known as "Tish" to friends and family, loved all her grandchildren and great-great son, and they brought great joy to her traveling together around the globe, visiting museums and just enjoying their "Nonny". She was also known as "Teacher Tish" having taught multiple generations of children as part of her work with both the Wheaton and Glen Ellyn Park Districts (30+ years).
Tish loved her animals, having raised everything from dogs to fish. The local squirrel and chipmunk population also greatly appreciated her kindness. Gretchen & Axel ('grand-dogs') visited her during time at Belmont Village, where she spent her last days being loved by the staff around her. While at Belmont Village, she especially appreciated Oumer, who sang Ethiopian songs to her late at night when she couldn't sleep, and her daytime PALS (noting Liz & Ruth, in particular) who cared for her as family.
Tish loved art and painting. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati, where she was a Tri-Delt. Majoring in graphic design, she extended her studies of art at the Du Page Art League in Wheaton. Every year, Tish drew the family Christmas card, depicting the family and all the grandchildren. Tish loved her Glen Ellyn family, and particularly the "Oak Street Gang" spending many holidays together as extended family over many years.
