Patricia Doerfler (nee Schuh), 68, passed away peacefully December 23, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 3, 1948 in Chicago, IL to Alfred and Lucille (nee Duff) Schuh. Pat worked as a nurse for many years at the Dupage County Health Department and later the Dupage County Community Clinic. A passionate nurse devoted to her patients and coworkers, she believed that everyone in the community deserved excellent medical care even if they couldn't afford it and most importantly, everyone should get a flu shot!

A long-time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wheaton, she served on a variety of committees and boards over the years and loved her faith community. She enjoyed meeting with her women's small group for discussions on faith, family and friendship. An avid reader and traveler, Pat enjoyed discussing books, exploring new places, and visiting family and friends. A loving friend and caring mother, she was kind to everyone and always put the interests of others ahead of her own. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. She loved having all of her children together and having her grandchildren over for sleepovers at Nana's house.

She is survived by her three children; daughter, Caroline (Pete) Nero of Elmhurst, IL and their children; Catie, Mary, and Emerson, Dan (Jennifer) Doerfler of Lamoni, IA and their children Andrew and Kaylee, and Courtney Doerfler of Lisle, IL. She is also survived by her brother, Alfred Schuh, and three stepsiblings, Don (Diane) Field, Jim (Patty) Field, and Esther (Mike) Bachrodt (nee Field).

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Wheaton, on Friday at 10:30 a.m.  Info: 630-668-0027 or www.hultgrenfh.com.
