Pamela Galligan, age 78, a resident of Wheaton, Ill., died September 15, 2022. The daughter of Ivan and Jean Ethington, Pam was born April 1, 1944 in Ft. Madison, Iowa. She graduated from the University of Colorado and earned her master's degree at the University of Nebraska. After graduation, she and her husband, Jay, moved several times, living in Colorado, Oregon, Nebraska and California before settling in Wheaton over 40 years ago. Pam was an avid swimmer, whether it was laps in the pool or floating in an ocean. She also practiced yoga regularly at the Wheaton Sport Center where she was a member for nearly 40 years. Pam taught high school English and was a life-long student herself, continuing to take college-level courses into adulthood. She loved to learn and could usually be found with a book or newspaper article. She was always up for a game and especially loved playing Bridge with family and friends.

She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva, attending regularly with grandson, Adam, followed by breakfast at a local diner.

Pam is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jay Galligan; her son, Sean (Maura) Galligan; daughter, Andrea (Chris) Kuc; grandchildren, Adam, Jack, Will, P.J., and Brian; and three brothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Brian.
