Otha
Arnold
October 10, 1916 – June 9, 2017
Otha Louise Arnold was born Oct. 10, 1916 in Normandy, Tennessee, to Abby Newton and Hattie Mae Jones. She was reared on a farm with six younger siblings all of which are deceased except one brother, Lester LN Jones.
In 1934 Otha married her childhood sweetheart, William Maxwell Arnold, and were blessed with an only child, Barbara (Bobbie) Maxine. They were fortunate to celebrate both their fiftieth and sixtieth wedding anniversaries before Max passed away in 1994.
Otha worked for 32 years for the Telephone Bell System, advancing from operator to chief operator. Needless to say she loved her job and was highly respected.
As a young woman she dedicated her life to God and lovingly served the Church of the Nazarene in many capacities. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School to the youth and adults. Every Saturday night Otha would prepare for the Sunday Service by arranging flowers for the altar and spending time in prayer.
Some of her hobbies were flower gardening and reading historical novels. These however, did not supersede her involvement in her grandchildren's lives. When it came to family and friends we all experienced her generosity with both her time and money.
Otha's influence in the lives of her family was far reaching. She was devoted to her only child Bobbie, and her husband Norlyn. This deep love extended to her grandchildren, Nick and Jayna and then to her five great-grandchildren, Landon, Wesley, Sydney, Casey and Caprice. By the time Otha turned 100 years old she had welcomed nine great, great-grandchildren; Elena, Ayva, Genevieve, Braylin, Nora, Dana, Atlyn, Iris, and Leo,.
In Otha's words, "My best achievement in life was raising a daughter of whom I am very proud and thankful." As her family we see so many accomplishments, but the greatest of all is her example as a godly woman who showed us the path to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Services will be privately held with interment at Restlawn Memorial Park in El Paso, Texas.
