Obituary

Olga Ruth Najacht, age 87, a long time resident of Wheaton, Illinois died on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Lakeview Memory Care in Bloomingdale, Illinois. She was born on June 21, 1931 in Oak Park, Illinois.

Ruth worked as a special education teacher for many years until her retirement in the early 1990's. She was an active member of many environmental and animal welfare groups including The Morton Arboretum, Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club, Greenpeace, National Wildlife Federation, World Wildlife Fund and The Nature Conservancy. Ruth also participated in the DuPage Bird Club and was a regular attendee of the DuPage County Forest Preserve board meetings. She loved to bird watch, golf and play tennis in her spare time.

She is survived by her cousin Benjamin Piskun of Prospect Heights, IL and her step-father's nephews and nieces: Dick Helin of East Dundee, IL, and Joan Helin and Jack Gustafson of California.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Korsal and step-father Erik Gustafson and her mother Mary Kuzma.

No visitation will be held. A short memorial Mass will be held at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church , 23W080 Butterfield Road, in Glen Ellyn, IL on December 19th at 10:00 a.m. A private interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove, IL.

Memorials may be sent to Bruce Povalish, 1413 Countryside Place, Champaign, IL 61821. Ruth had asked that donations be made in her memory to any of the above organizations.
