Noreen E. Benton, age 85, a resident of Elk Grove Village, IL, passed away May 30, 2021. She was born March 14, 1936 in Chicago to John & Desta Doyle.

Noreen and Thomas met on a blind date. They were a very loving couple who showed constant support, guidance and love to their children.

After Noreen lost Thomas in 1985, she was determined to find her way as a single parent to carry out the plans she and Thomas made for their family. She was completely focused on getting her last two children through college, keeping the family house, and pushing forward to create a new life that could be filled with love, new experiences and happiness. During this time of transition her sisters, her work family, and her children were her lifeline to provide her purpose and support. She loved her sisters dearly, spent time talking with them regularly and meeting them for weekly dining events. Later in life, Noreen developed a network of loving friends in Elk Grove Village who she met almost daily for breakfast or lunch (the Breakfast Club). Noreen always remained very close to her family and found joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, her many nieces, nephews, and their children.

Noreen loved traveling to many destinations with her sisters and children, with a favorite spot being Las Vegas. Noreen was an avid sports fan supporting the Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, Bears and she enjoyed watching any playoff games her teams were in. She was a kind, generous, loving and caring person.

She is survived by her children Karen (Dan) Bar of Key West, FL, Tom (Loretta) Benton, of Aurora, IL, Jim (Estela) Benton of Oswego, IL; her grandchildren Gabriel, Eithan, Emmett & Ella; her sisters Catherine (the late Delwyn) Marquette, Desta (the late Daniel) Ahern and Rosemary (the late William) Dunker; and her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Thomas; her sister Sr. Joan Doyle (Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary - BVM); and her brothers Larry, James, Joseph, & Raymond Doyle.

A visitation will be held Friday, June 4, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187.

Relatives & friends are invited to meet directly at St. Michael Church 310 S. Wheaton Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187, for a Funeral Mass on June 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois.
