Nora C. Schick, age 93, a resident of Wheaton, died Tuesday, August 26, at the Tabor Hills Heath Care Center in Naperville. She was born on November 4, 1914 in Frohna, Missouri.
Over the years she lived in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Illinois. She was a homemaker and volunteered at various hospitals and churches. She has been a member of the JOY Group at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton and has attended Western Springs Baptist Church with her son, George and his wife Carol. Nora loved to work in the garden, loved to read and write letters. She enjoyed creating handiwork and recently completed four crocheted afghans for her four grandchildren which they treasure.
She is survived by three children, George (Carol) Schick of Wheaton, Martin (Betty) Schick of Kingsport, TN, and Janet Derow of Inver Grove Heights, MN, four grandchildren, David (Lorilee) Schick, Leslie Schick, Andrew (Roxanne) Smith, and Jennifer Smith, and one great-grandchild, Jakob Smith. She is also survived by one brother, Oscar (Helen) Schmidt, one son-in-law Paul Smith, and many loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband George in 1992, two daughters, Beverly Hole and Helen Smith, and three siblings, Irma Stortz and Wilson and Irwin Schmidt.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, from 3 until 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 3 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Main St. and Seminary St. in Wheaton. Interment will be held at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY.
