Noel H. Daley, age 81, a resident of West Chicago, IL. passed away on Sunday, March 04, 2018. Noel was born March 19, 1936 to Russell and Ruth (Cosby) Daley in Chicago, IL.
Noel grew up on the north side of Chicago, attending Amundsen High School, class of 1954. After High School Noel joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in Japan for two years. Upon discharge he joined the Chicago Police Department and was a police officer for over a decade before leaving to start his own business. Noel operated his company, Wooddale Trucking and Leasing, Inc. for 30 years before retiring.
Noel lived his life with gusto. He was an avid sailboat racer, competing in many annual Chicago to Mackinac Island races on Lake Michigan. Skiing was his winter passion. He started the Shannon Ski Club in the city of Chicago and was active with it for many years. He was a certified Club Instructor and enjoyed teaching skiing. He became a Life Member of the Dupage County Marine Corps League and loved helping with their annual Toys for Tots campaign and other charitable activities. Noel was a loyal friend who maintained many friendships from his high school days to the present.
Noel is survived by his wife of 22 years, Gail Daley; six children: Nicole Daley, Jeffrey Daley, Patrick Daley, Jennifer Daley, Noel C. Daley and Kelly (Antony) Fewster. He has seven grandchildren: Stephanie Daley, Miranda Daley, Thomas Daley, Trevor Daley, Dillon Daley, Ella Fewster and Harrison Fewster. He is also survived by his sister, Wendy (John) Henry; and brother, Jeffrey T. Daley; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, March 10th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Wheaton, IL.
Interment will be private.
