Nigel Barnhill, age 99, a resident of Belmont Village in Carol Stream, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024.  She was born May 15, 1925 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to Henry & Gladys Stoutz.

Nigel grew up in Muskogee, OK and attended the University of Oklahoma, where she earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree in Spanish.   She married Jerry Barnhill in 1947.  They moved to Long Island, New York and raised three children.  Nigel taught Spanish to adult education students for many years on Long Island.   She was very involved in her church, enjoyed playing bridge throughout her adult life, and traveled the world with her husband.   In 2000 Nigel and Jerry moved to Wheaton, where she became very active in the community through Department Club.

She is survived by her three children, Press (Gena) of Daytona Beach, FL, Janell (Frank) Weinstock of Salt Lake City, UT, and Laura (Thomas) Barto of Wheaton, IL; and seven grandchildren, Brent (Jennie) Barnhill, Kristen (Flynn) Tregay, David (Crystal) Weinstock, Heather Weinstock, Cheryl (Barry) Shoults, Cynthia (Iain) Barto-Mulligan, and Danielle (Michael) Gosky; and her eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jarrell "Jerry" Barnhill.

A private burial was held at Wheaton Cemetery.
