Nellie Vander Ark, age 88, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, and formerly a longtime resident of Wheaton, died Wednesday, January 30, at her home. She was born May 21, 1919 in Chicago.
She was a member of the Wheaton Christian Reformed Church, and she was a volunteer at the Billy Graham Center in Wheaton. When she was younger, she was a teacher at Christian elementary schools.
She is survived by her daughter, Gwen Sharer of Springfield, MO; her son, Gordon Lee of Aurora, IL; her grandchildren, Patrick (Courtney) Fitzgerald, and Albert James "A.J." Sharer; her brother, George (Alice) Van Der Molen of West Chicago, IL; her sisters-in-law, Joyce Van Der Molen Cook of West Chicago, Eunice Van Der Molen of Wheaton, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Albert; and three brothers, Bernard (the late Henrietta), Harold, and Everett; and her sister, Dorothy Setsma.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 5, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of a service at 11:00 A.M. at Wheaton Christian Reformed Church, 711 E. Harrison Avenue. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
