Obituary

Naomi N. Bostrom, age 98, a resident of Batavia, IL, died August 6, 2021, at Covenant Living-Holmstad in Batavia, Illinois. She was born June 20, 1923, Washington, DC to parents, David and Nelda Butcher.
She grew up in the DC/Baltimore, MD area. For College, she attended Nyack Bible College where she met her then to be husband, Harvey R Bostrom (married 1944). Following college, they pastored a church in Asheville, NC. Soon after they became missionaries in Ecuador, South America devoting most of their time to teaching Bible School. Harvey was Chairman of the Field, in Ecuador, giving leadership to the many different missionary programs and activities. Naomi offered great hospitality as they hosted several individuals and families while in Quito and Guayaquil. Their two sons, Stephen D and Daniel A were both born in Ecuador.
So that Harvey could get his PhD, they moved to NY. Upon graduation, a position at Wheaton College-Wheaton, IL opened. After moving to Wheaton, Naomi secured an Elementary teaching position. While an educator, Naomi received her master's degree from Wheaton College. They relocated to FL for 2 years. Naomi taught Elementary School there. Then returning to Illinois, Harvey joined the faculty and administration of Trinity International University, Deerfield, IL. Once again, Naomi taught elementary school. Harvey then became President of Ft. Wayne Bible College in Ft Wayne, IN. Naomi enjoyed her role as "First Lady", entertaining and challenging students, staff, and others. For retirement, they moved to Tucson, AZ. While there, Naomi became Director of Women's ministries for their local church. Harvey and Naomi hosted small groups, missionaries, and countless others. She and a team went to Africa for a short-term mission's trip. Naomi built RICH and long-lasting friendships in Tucson that have lasted right up to now. About 4 years after Harvey's (2006) passing, Naomi moved to Batavia, IL to be closer to family. She got deeply involved in her retirement community. She taught Bible Studies, sponsored prayer times with some of the residents, with a focus on praying specifically for missionaries. She and another resident wanted to 'spice' things up a bit, so she started an entertainment activity called "Laugh-A-Little". Jokes and skits were so loved by many of the residents. Naomi was deeply admired for her rich spiritual life by staff and residents of her new-found-home.
Naomi had a sincere love for her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Her witness to all was evident. She encouraged so many people. She will be missed. BUT she is in her eternal home.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Stephen D Bostrom (wife Debby) of Bella Vista, AR and Daniel A Bostrom (wife Marylin) of St. Charles, IL. Naomi has 5 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey R Bostrom (2006) and her parents.
A private time of celebration and remembrances will be had with family.
