Naomi W. Basiletti, age 81, a resident of Winfield for 38 years, died Monday, December 25th at home with her husband and children by her side. She was born on August 29, 1925 in Negaunee, Michigan.

Naomi attended business school in Detroit and met her husband, John, while working as a secretary. They were married on December 21, 1946 and lived in Royal Oak, Michigan. All eight of their children were born in Michigan before the family relocated to Winfield in 1968. She was involved with the local public schools where she worked as a volunteer. Later in life she became certified as a Nurse's Aide and worked at Marianjoy.

She is survived by her husband, John, seven children, Mari (JoDee Samuelson) Basiletti of PEI, Canada, Mark (Susan Makela) Basiletti of Maple Grove, MN, Chris (Tina Tucker) Basiletti of Watsonville, CA, Patricia Peterson of Glenview, Vicki (Steve) Dapolito of Brookline, NH, Janice (Faan Hoan Liu) Basiletti of Hollis, NH and Matthew (Karen) Basiletti of Lafayette, IN, 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, one brother, Leino Warmanen of Madison, WI.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Roberta Jean Basiletti, her parents and five siblings.

A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, December 28 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 0S233 Church St. in Winfield. Friends and relatives may visit with the family from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Winfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Special Olympics or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
