Nancy J. Shemansky, age 82, a resident of Wheaton since 1954, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at Wynscape Nursing Home of Wheaton. She was born on July 24, 1923 in Ames, Iowa to Glen and Doris Rolston Ford.
Nancy was a graduate of Joliet High School and attended Northern Illinois University. She married Richard Shemansky on November 25, 1944. She worked for the Credit Bureau in Wheaton for several years before becoming an administrative assistant for the Bank of Wheaton. In 1968, she was instrumental in the creation her husband's architectural firm, AME and Associates.
She and Richard were active volunteers with Wheaton Little League and Pony League Baseball programs. Since 1954, Nancy has been a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Wheaton, where she participated in the vocal choir and the bell choir. For many years she has wintered on Sanibel Island, Florida, where she was involved in her neighborhood Bible study.
Her survivors include two sons, Richard B. (Mickey) Shemansky of Pekin and Robert A. (Terry) Shemansky of North Aurora; eight grandchildren, Brett (Dena), Chip (Amber), Brian, and Blake Shemansky, Kari Ann (Mark) Villarreal, Derek Shemansky, and Andrea and Liz Caruso; seven great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Ally, Cameron, Preston, Robert, Amanda and MacKenzie. She is also survived by two sisters, Janis Hillcoat of Port St. Lucie, FL and Doris Hermansen
of Romeoville, IL and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents, one brother, Bruce Ford of Jackson, MI.
