Nancy L. Schweitzer, age 84, a resident of Brighton Gardens in Wheaton, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. She was born May 28, 1938 in Michigan City, Indiana to Walter & Leona Ostrowski.

Nancy graduated from Mishawaka Central High School in 1956. She attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting. After graduation she worked as an accountant for West Texas Hospital. She later worked as the administrative assistant to the Executive Director of ArtsPartners, an arts advocacy non-profit organization that promotes the arts until she retired in 2013.

A dedicated volunteer, Nancy was for many years treasurer of the Peoria Area World Affairs Council, treasurer and board member of the League of Women Voters and a board member of the Peoria chapter of the American Civil Liberty Union in addition to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.

She enjoyed travel, her pets, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her three daughters: Kathleen (David) Tovson, Karen (Eric) Patton and Christina (Mark) Zalesky; her step-daughters: Lisa (Chuck) Harman-Wakefield, Sue (Dave) Meyerhofer and Sara (Michael Mealy) Schweitzer; 13 grandchildren & seven great-grandchildren; her sister Linda (Bob) Ganser.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, John C. Schweitzer.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
