Nancy Meyer, age 77, a resident of Overland Park, KS, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 25 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Chicago to John and Margaret Smith.
Nancy was a graduate of Austin High School in Chicago. After her marriage to Ernst Meyer, her husband of 55 years, they both became very involved in various activities. Nancy had a special heart for youth and was a Sunday School teacher, Awana leader and director, and ran various children's activities.
Nancy also worked in business sales at Illinois Bell and then transferred to AT&T Headquarters in Basking Ridge, NJ. She retired in 1984.
She was most of all a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Ernst Christopher; her daughters, Barbara (Thomas) Bembynista of Overland Park, KS, and Cynthia Meyer of Olathe, KS; her grandson, Christopher; her brother, John (Wanda) Smith; her sister, Margaret (Peter) Hayburn; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Smith; her brother, George Smith; and her sisters-in-law, Doris and Ellie Smith.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of a service at 12:00 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
