Nancy J. Irey, age 61, a longtime resident of Wheaton, died Monday, September 24, at home with her husband and two children by her side. She was born on August 23, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky to John and Mary Dahlstedt.
She was a 1964 graduate of Wheaton Community High School where she was valedictorian, graduated from the University of Illinois and received a Master's Degree from National Louis University. Mrs. Irey taught French at Wheaton Central and Wheaton Warrenville South High Schools. She was a member of Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Rod Irey, two children, Susan (Eric) Clark of Arlington Heights and John Irey of Chicago, two granddaughters, Sarah and Emma Clark, one brother John Dahlstedt of Urbana and two sisters, Mary Wells of Woodbury, MN and Susan Dahlstedt of Wheaton. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David Dahlstedt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 26, from 3 until 8 p.m. at the Gary United Methodist Church, enter the chapel from Seminary St. just west of Main St. in Wheaton, where a memorial service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m., enter off of Main St. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
