Nancy L. Ewoldt, age 68, a resident of Wheaton for 45 years, died Friday, January 6, at the Glen Oaks Hospital. She was born on August 24, 1937 in Rowley, Iowa.
Nancy graduated from Clutier High School in Clutier, Iowa in 1954. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and graduated in 1956 with a teachers certificate. She became a teacher in Williamsburg, Iowa. She returned to Iowa Teachers College and received a Bachelors Degree in 1959. She taught at Ramey Air force Base in Puerto Rico. She married Ed Ewoldt on March 19, 1960.
In Wheaton she worked as a substitute teacher in Dist. 200 while raising four children. She later taught for a year at Benjamin School in West Chicago.
For 17 years she worked for Country Companies Insurance Company in Carol Stream. She was a member of the Gary Memorial United Methodist Church in Wheaton. For many years she was an active parent in Baton Twirling in the Chicago area.
She is survived by her husband, three sons, Kurt (Kriston) of Colorado, Eric (Valerie) of Lombard and Steve (Beth) of Wheaton, four grandchildren, Zachary, Jourdan, Hannah, and Corie, two sisters, Phyllis (Richard) Day of Indiana and Ellen (Sam) Young of Iowa, and one brother, Tom (Joan) Grover of Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Karen, three grandchildren, Katarina Marie, Ryan James, and Kyle, and one sister, Charlotte Feild.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8, from 2 until 7 pm at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 am at Gary Memorial United Methodist Church, Main and Seminary St. in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association or to Gary Memorial United Methodist Church.
