Obituary

N. Marcene Kirby, age 98, passed peacefully in her sleep on June 27, 2015, at Brookdale Senior Living in Lisle, IL. Marcene also known as "Marcy" was born on July 19, 1916 in Moline, IL, the third child of Flossie and Milton Jacobs. She was married to Richard Kirby and had a son, R. Brooks Kirby. She is survived by her daughter in law, Brenda Kirby, her three grandchildren, Diana Mansell, Nancy Anderson, and Susan Kirby. Her mother, father and her siblings, Jake Jacobs, Gloral Huntley, Dort Jacobs, their spouses and her son, R. Brooks Kirby all pre-deceased Marcene's passing.

Marcene has many nieces and nephews still in the Quad Cities area and others in Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and locally here in Carol Stream, Rolling Meadows, Forest Park and Elgin.

Marcene last worked for the DuPage County Elections Commission Office as an election administrator. When she retired, she volunteered at Central DuPage Hospital and joined the sewing group dedicating her talent for knitting pom poms onto warming hats for newborns. She served 30 years of volunteer work for Central DuPage Hospital.

She was devoted to her faith in the Lord. She was originally baptized a Reorganized Latter Day Saint, but later found a home with College Church in Wheaton, IL.

A longtime Wheatonite, she transitioned to Brookdale in Glen Ellyn, IL several years ago prior to moving to skilled nursing care at the Brookdale Lisle location. A special thanks to the staff at Brookdale for their patience during some difficult times.

Per her wishes, she will have a family gathering with invited friends to memorialize her life at her gravesite. A date will be determined. There will be no other services.

Her favorite Bible reference is from Proverbs 3: 5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
