Obituary
Myrtle E. Luther, age 89, a longtime resident of Wheaton, currently of Belmont Village in Carol Stream, died at home on Wednesday, May 17. She was born on August 2, 1916 in Chicago to Otto and Marie Hass.
For over 20 years Myrtle worked as a hairdresser for Carson Pierie Scott in Hillside. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton where she was active with the JOY Group.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Thomas, two children, Ellen (Ed) Getz of Huntington Beach, CA and Ken (Marcia) Luther of Phoenix, AZ, seven grandchildren, Scott, Wendi, Bryan, Aaron, Craig, Heather and Brad, three great-grandsons, Colin, Jhet and Evan, her son-in-law, Jerry Van Hoose and her brother, Otto Hass of AZ. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Van Hoose.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 19 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 20 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Main and Semiary St. in Wheaton. Friends may visit with the family from 9 until the time of service. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in St. Charles.
Memorials may be directed to the JOY Group at St. John Lutheran Church.
