Mildred F. Wright, age 100, a resident of Wheaton, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Wynscape Nursing Center in Wheaton, IL. She was born October 1, 1913 in Passaic, NJ to Edwin and Kate (Miedema) Flanagan.
After completing a high school business course, Mildred went to work as a bookkeeper at Patterson Parchment Paper Co. in order to support her mother and 2 younger sisters. When the company moved to PA, Mildred had to board in Tullytown. There she met John Wright They were married in 1940 and settled in Bristol for the next 34 years. After working for 17 years, Mildred was happy to stay home and be a housewife and mother to daughter, Carole, born in 1947. They worshiped at Calvary Baptist in Bristol where she sang in the choir. Mildred and John enjoyed traveling around the U.S. and at home spending time with family and friends just sharing meals, talking and playing games.
In 1974, Mildred and John moved to Anna Marie Island, FL, where they entertained many northern visitors looking for sun, surf and Disney World. In addition to serving in a local church, they volunteered with Bible Alliance Mission. After John Passed away, Mildred moved to Wyndemere Retirement Community in Wheaton to be near her daughter and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Carole (Tom) Paulsen of Wheaton; three grandchildren, Kristina (Chris) Hagenbaumer of Naperville, IL, Beth (Tim) Frilingos of Decatur, GA, and Katie Paulsen of Wheaton; three great-grandchildren, Paul, Jack and Luke Frilingos; and three step-great-grandchildren, Julia, Jack and Justin Hagenbaumer. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Kathie (Gil) Pratt, Curt (Carol) Detwiler and Lauren Pontier.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John Frank Wright; and two sisters, Ruth and Edna.
Services and interment will be held at Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto, FL.
