Mildred Lorraine Nelson, age 89, a lifelong resident of Wheaton, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. She was born May 26, 1925 in Chicago to Ray and Bertha Bartee.
Mildred grew up in Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton Community High School. She lived on the same land her whole life. On November 23, 1949 she married Ansel D. Nelson at Gary Memorial United Methodist Church in Wheaton, where she and her husband remained as active members.
She loved her family, her grandchildren, especially her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Ansel, three children, Brian (Leslie) of Maple Park, Beverly (James) Brown of Wheaton, and Barbara (David) Miller of West Chicago, six grandchildren, Daniel (Michelle) Barna, Adam Miller, Laura (Brian) Herra, Sarah Miller, Stephanie (Chris) Rebone, and Jacob (Kamrey) Miller, and five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph, Owen, Bentley and Molly. She is also survived by one sister, Bernice Vix of Wheaton and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jamie Gieger officiating. Interment will be held privately at Fairmount Willow Hills Memorial Park in Willow Springs.
