Mike was born on February 5, 1952 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Paul and Felicie Krueger. First and foremost, Mike was a loving husband to Charlotte, and father to Jennifer and Paul. He was also known as "Papa" to his three grandchildren: Emma (12), Jacob (10), and Alyssa (8). Mike was a wonderful friend to many and a loving brother to his sister, Jeanne Crotty. He cherished the relationship he had with his godson and nephew, Cory Crotty, and his niece, Jeanne Arnold. While each role was an integral part of who Mike was, what defined him most was his faith in Jesus Christ. If you knew Mike, you knew about his steadfast faith. He loved unconditionally, and was always generous with his many talents and resources.
When he wasn't busy providing for his family as a commercial banker, which required much travel, he chose to be home surrounded by those he cherished. While Mike enjoyed playing golf, his favorite pastime was watching the New York Yankees and Boston Celtics with his son, Paul.
Mike spent much of his childhood in Massachusetts, and received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Boston University. He then received a Master's degree in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Early in his banking career in St. Louis, he met and married the love of his life, Charlotte, and embraced her two-year old daughter (Jennifer) as his own; Mike claimed their marriage was a "package deal." A few years later, Mike and Charlotte welcomed their son, Paul into the family and shortly thereafter relocated to Naperville, Illinois, where they spent 19 years. From Naperville, they moved to Valparaiso, Indiana. In 2014, Mike and Charlotte returned to Naperville, to be closer to family and friends, while Mike fought a 5-year battle with colon cancer.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Felicie Krueger née Jung and brother-in-law, Dr. Burns M. Crotty. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Krueger née Brown, daughter, Jennifer Werner née Reitz, son, Paul Krueger, son-in-law, Jason Werner, and grandchildren: Emma, Jacob and Alyssa Werner. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanne Crotty née Krueger, nephew, Burns "Cory" Crotty III, and niece, Jeanne Arnold née Crotty.
