Mickey
Lowe
October 20, 1957 – December 22, 2023
Mickey L. Lowe, age 66, a resident of West Chicago, IL, died suddenly on Friday, December 22, 2023. He was born October 20, 1957 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Mickey grew up in Knoxville, Wheaton and West Chicago, graduating from West Chicago High School in 1975.
He attended the Art Institute of Chicago after graduating from high school and completed his bachelor's degree at Columbia College in Chicago.
Mickey was a very talented artist and loved to draw cartoons, especially of his kids in his later years. He was a printer by trade but never lost his love of drawing.
Mickey enjoyed watching his favorite Chicago sports teams including the Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls and also grew up rooting for the Tennessee Volunteers. What he enjoyed most however, was watching his children play on their various sports teams.
He was also a voracious reader and loved reading mysteries and learning about history. His favorite way to spend a Saturday was at Borders, Barnes and Noble or the library.
He also loved the stylings of various comedic artists, and often made those around him laugh at his perfect comedic timing. Although his sense of humor may have been dry at times, his heart was far from that when it came to loved ones. His heart was the fullest when he was able to see the smiling faces of the people he cared about the most. He would seize every opportunity he could to be with his kids.
Mickey is survived by his wife Susan and his children, Leah and Nathan. He is also survived by his brother Jeff (Cathy) Lowe, niece Emma Lowe, nephew Ryan (Lisa) Keiler and his mother in law Judy Leo.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Jenna, his parents Alvin Mack and Barbara Lowe and his father in law Don Leo.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 4 to 8 pm. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
