Michael M. Ugorek, age 56, a resident of Wheaton for 30 years, died suddenly, Tuesday, October 3 at the Central Du Page Hospital. He was born on February 3, 1950 in Chicago to Richard Stanley Ugorek and Teddy, nee Nordsell.
Mike had been a Sr. Systems Analyst for Bank One. He was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, where he was a Scout Master, an instructor of scout masters and a Merit Badge counselor. He earned his Wood Badge and membership in the Order of the Arrow.
He was a member of the West Suburban Lapidary Club, the Northern Illinois Rocketry Association and the Windy City Grotto of the National Speliological Society. He served as a 4-H Judge and enjoyed role-play gaming, camping, climbing and skiing.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sandra, two children, David (Marie) Ugorek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Sabrina M. Ugorek of Wheaton, one sister, Ann Marie Nordsell of Elmhurst. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Stanley Ugorek and Theodora Ann Nordsell Ugorek Pieler.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, from 3 until 9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 7, at 9:30 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church in Elmhurst.
Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
