Michael J. Tenzinger, age 89, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. He was born June 1, 1931 in Antioch, IL.

He grew up in Elmwood Park and in Wheaton, where he graduated from Wheaton Community High School. He served in the US Navy as a machinist's mate on two ships:  USS Jubilant (AM-255) a minesweeper and USS Fitch (DD-462/DMS-25) a destroyer. He returned to Wheaton where he met Alice Olson. They were married on June 30, 1956. Mike worked at the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun Times as a pressman. He also worked at Rhodes Automotive in Wheaton from the 1960's to the 80's. In retirement he enjoyed repairing bikes at Probikes and Likes in Glen Ellyn.

Mr. Tenzinger was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn and the Elmhurst Bike Club. He took many family vacations with the most memorable being driving around Lake Michigan, Door County, Wisconsin and also to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore.  The hobbies he enjoyed were attending concerts, bowling, golf, enduro motorcycling racing and bicycling.

He is survived by four children, Marie, David (Rita), Regina, and Diane Tenzinger; 2 grandchildren, Matthew Tenzinger and Elizabeth (Eric) Spicher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, one son, Steven Tenzinger, by his sister, Elizabeth (Andrew) Holoubek and his parents.

A private service was held at Faith Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn. Inurnment will be held at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on April 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.

Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Wheaton, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Honor Flight in Chicago.
