Michael P. Pozzie Sr., known to most as Mike, passed away on May 3, 2026. Born June 12, 1960, in Berwyn, Illinois, Mike lived a life defined by hard work, craftsmanship, and deep devotion to his family.
He is survived by his children, Michael Jr. (Jennifer), Samantha (Kyle), and Vincent; his cherished grandchildren, Kylie, Michael III, Lucas, and Chloe; his siblings, Edward Pozzie (Stephanie) and Deborah Sarno (John); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Douglas and late wife, Rachel.
Raised in Cicero, Mike earned the distinction of Eagle Scout sparking a lifelong love of nature and the simple things. He attended Morton East High School and began his career as an automotive mechanic before moving into construction, where he built a respected reputation for quality and integrity. He later founded M&M Building and Remodeling, reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to his craft.
Mike was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor and friend, always ready to lend a hand, share his knowledge, or support those he loved. Whether coaching, fixing, building, or simply showing up, he led with kindness, humility, and unwavering dedication. Known as someone who would do anything for anyone, his generosity extended far beyond his family.
He found joy in time spent on the water with loved ones, cheering on the Chicago Blackhawks, and watching car racing. Above all, Mike took great pride in his family and their accomplishments.
A Mass celebrating Mike’s life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Church, 1555 Glen Ellyn Rd, Glendale Heights, IL 60139, followed by a celebration of life at the Village Tavern, 291 S Schmale Rd, Carol Stream, IL 60188. Inurnment will be private.
Mike leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, strength, and craftsmanship that will continue to live on through his family.
