The Rev. Michael W. Lemons, age 59, a resident of Warrenville, IL and formerly of Omaha, NE, and Pawtucket, RI, died Sunday, November 25, at home. He was born May 22, 1948 in Findlay, OH to Jack and Betty Lemons.
Michael graduated from Findlay College in 1970 with a degree in business marketing. He graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1979 with an MBA in Systems Analysis. He was a career Air Force officer between 1971 and retired in 1991. He was a B-52 Aircraft Commander and served several years in the Headquarters SAC in Omaha, NE. He graduated from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL with a Master of Divinity and was ordained as an Episcopal priest on December 4, 1994. He served at Christ Church in Central City, NE from 1994 until 1998, and St. Luke's Church in Pawtucket, RI from 1998 until 2007. He was an avid reader, an amateur historian, a gourmet cook, and a talented singer with a beautiful bass-baritone voice most recently singing as a member of the Cumberland-Lincoln Community Chorus.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda, nee Farner; three children, Christian (Hayley) of Keizer, OR, Julianne (David) Chandler of Chicago, IL, and Peter (Jillian) of Fayetteville, NC; two granddaughters, Dillen Chandler, and Kendall Lemons; two step-grandchildren, Julia and Jagger Jenks; his mother, Betty Lemons; his brother, John (Brenda) Lemons; his sister, Carrie (Mark) Kern; and his beloved dog, Raisin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 30, from 6-8 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 1, at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Episcopal Church, 222 S Batavia Ave., in Batavia. Interment is private.
