Michael David Dudgeon, age 85, a resident of Wheaton, IL since 1980, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026. He was born June 4, 1941 in Montréal, Québec, Canada. His loving parents were James and Catherine Dudgeon.

After graduating from Loyola High School in Montréal, Michael attended St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Organic Chemistry.

That led him to his career in the paper industry, starting in the paper mills of Trois-Rivières and working his way up to executive leadership along his 37-year professional journey.

Retirement gave Michael the opportunity to devote even more time to his lifelong passions for fishing and golf—he was a long-time member of Naperville Country Club. Michael was best known for his fly-fishing skills, which ranged from tying his own flies to catching the limit (plus releasing many more) on his annual trips to Gaspé, Québec.

Over the years, he enjoyed many other fishing adventures with his lifelong and new fishing buddies. Michael also enjoyed golfing, reading, and traveling. Along with his love of fishing, family and friends will fondly remember Michael's sense of humour.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joy Malone; his son Kelly (Leslie); and his daughters: Dairne & Devon (Michael West); his grandchildren: Madeleine, Morgan, Cassandra & Sebastian Dudgeon; William, Daniel & Henry Mayer; and Leonardo West; and his brother Peter Dudgeon (Sara).

A visitation will be held at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187, on Saturday, August 8th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A committal service will be held at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL on Monday, August 10th at 10:00 a.m.
