Obituary

Maurice McDowall Martin, age 92, a recent resident of Warrenville, IL, and longtime resident of West Chicago, IL passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

Born in Chicago on May 17, 1932 to Maurice & Jean Martin, Maurice (known as Maury) grew up on a family farm in Round Lake, IL. Maury was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War. His mechanical skills, learned during his time in the service, lead him to his lifelong career as the owner operator of Dyna Kleen Heating & Air Conditioning.

Maury was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and one of the founders of Warrenville Bible Chapel. He devoted himself to the Lord's work at WBC as a Sunday school superintendent, youth group leader, bible study leader, and as an elder for over 30 years. One of his great joys was helping kids learn how to use woodworking tools and making wood crafts for the WBC Craft Class program.

Maury loved fishing, gardening, camping, and he was curious about all things mechanical. He liked building steam engines, taking family photos, snorkeling, and learning about computer technology. He was an avid collector of vintage items. His collections included coins, stamps, baseball cards and bottles.

As a devoted husband and father, Maury loved spending time with his family and included them in his church involvement and personal activities. As the family grew to include sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and many grandchildren, his patience and love of family never waivered. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Arlene; his five children: Sheryl (Kevin) Togami, Lynette (David) Neal, Bonnie (Todd) Neese, Kevin (Sandra) Martin and April (Glen) Tepe; his 15 grandchildren and his 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughters Amanda Togami & Bethany Tepe; sister Sheana (the late James) Kemp; his brother James Martin; and his parents.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Warrenville Bible Chapel, 4S157 Curtis Ave, Warrenville, IL 60555, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago, Illinois.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Warrenville Bible Chapel for missionary outreach purposes.
