January 8, 1967 – September 11, 2021
Maurice I. Hellmer, age 54, a resident of Melrose Park, IL passed away unexpectedly on September 11, 2021 in Northlake, IL. He was born on January 8, 1967.
Maurice grew up in Leyden Township and graduated from West Leyden High School in 1985. He worked as a car mechanic for a few years until he received his CDL license and then worked for a couple of construction companies as a truck driver. The progression of his multiple sclerosis caused him to go on disability assistance in his late 30's.
Family and friends were very important to Maurice, and he is remembered for his loyalty, caring, genuineness, politeness, friendliness, and love of his country.
Maurice's interests included bike riding, boxing, being out in nature, working on cars, fishing, and he was a fan of the Chicago White Sox and Black Hawks.
Maurice is survived by his mother, Barbara Hellmer, of Melrose Park, aunt, Paulette Mannalla, cousins, Vince Mannella, Richard Mannella, Paula Mannella, and James Mannella, second cousins "on the farm" in Ramsey, IL Richard (wife, Linda), Loretta, and Larry.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:00 am at Bensenville Bible Church, 280 So. York Road, Bensenville, IL. The doors will be open at 10:00 for visitation with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Evangelical Child and Family Agency , 1530 N. Main Street, Wheaton, IL 60187.
