Mattie E. Farmer, age 84, a resident of Eureka Springs, AR, died Thursday, July 15, at Brighton Ridge in Eureka Springs. She was born April 5, 1926 in London, KY to Fred and Lillian Jackson.
Mattie went to school in East Bernstadt, KY. She married Stephen Tarnowski in Chicago, IL on June 26, 1943. She lived in the Chicagoland area for many years: in Northlake, IL where she worked as an LPN, and also in Viila Park, IL and in Melrose Park, IL. After her first husband's death, she married Byron Farmer in Carroll County, TN, on August 5, 1994. She retired from Nestles and lived in Big Sandy, TN until Byron's death.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Dean and Jacqueline Diane Tarnowski of Lakeland, FL; her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Marla and Frank Lyn Westling of Holiday Island, AR; and her daughter and son-in-law Linda Faye and Ray Selvage of Aurora, IL. Mattie is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mattie was preceeded in death by her first husband, Stephen in Carol Stream, IL; and also her second husband, Byron in Big Sandy, TN.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 19, from 6:00 p.m. until the time of a funeral service to be held at 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment will be private at Fairview Memorial Park in Northlake, IL.
