Matt Burmeister, a resident of Wheaton, Illinois passed away in his home on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. He was 38 years old, born September 17, 1979 in San Diego, California.

As soon as you met Matt, you had an instant friend. Matt had a knack for making people feel at ease and like you'd known each other for years, even if you'd only just met. He loved sharing stories and could usually find a joke in any situation. He had a love of science and nature which led him to serve as a Boy Scout, attend Southern Illinois University to study Plant Biology, earn a Master's Degree in Botany from Eastern Illinois University, and achieve a career as an Environmental Scientist. He enjoyed volunteering, whether it was to help clean up the earth or to teach kids about science. Matt also had a great love for music, reading, and traveling. He was a die-hard White Sox fan.

Above everything else, Matt was a loving husband, son, brother, and a dedicated father to his three young daughters. Matt spent his free time coaching t-ball, taking his family on adventures, and teaching his girls about the great women in history and how there is nothing they can't achieve. Matt was loved by many and was a friend to all.

He is survived by his wife of ten years, Karen Burmeister; three daughters, Rose, Grace and Anne; his parents, Steve and Jeanne Burmeister; his sister, Sara (Dan) Fienup; his grandmother, Jeanette Cygan; his aunt, Pattie (Kevin) Royals; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 North Main Street in Wheaton, Illinois. Services and interment are private.
