Beloved husband and father Masoud Akhlaghdoust, age 67, a financial consultant who lived in Glendale Heights, IL, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025. He was born October 2, 1958 in Tehran, Iran to Abbas & Mahdieh Akhlaghdoust.

Masoud was a friend to everyone. His unquenchable curiosity about the universe extended to every person he met. He was a passionate traveler who set foot on five continents, collected a treasure trove of stories, and loved to learn about new cultures. With his charm and wit he could strike up a conversation with anyone.

Masoud loved his work, but especially the people he worked with. He came to this country as a young man, climbed his way through college, became a teacher himself, and finally a mentor to many, from colleagues to family. His wife was with him through thick and thin, and they enjoyed nearly three decades of spirited companionship, still as much in love as the day they met. Masoud had a deep bond with his children that continued as they grew into adults he was very proud of. He was their champion who celebrated their success more than his own.

Masoud is survived by his wife of 27 years, Srirerng; his son Elliot Wake and his partner Ina, and her children Finn and Henry; his daughter Bethany Holubetz and her husband Andy; and his siblings Javad, Ety, Asi, and Saeed, as well as their spouses. Masoud was a fond uncle to eight nieces and nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 12:00 Noon – 6:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. A time of sharing will begin at 2:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed through this link: Time of Sharing for Masoud Akhlaghdoust .
