Maryann
Motejzik
March 26, 1933 – December 26, 2020
Maryann Motejzik (née Daugirda), of Naperville IL, was born and raised in Chicago, formerly of Berwyn and Wheaton. She passed away at age 87, finally finding peace the morning of Saturday, December 26, 2020 in the company of those she loved.
Maryann was preceded in death by her parents, Harry F. and Eleanor S. (née Klarkowski) Daugirda. She married Frank C. Motejzik in 1952, who preceded her in death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her brother Paul Daugirda (surviving spouse, Elizabeth), granddaughter Madeline McGuan, and sister-in-law Marie Daugirda. She is survived by children Karen (Russell) Hurlbut, Susan (James Bernard) McGuan, Thomas (Danette) Motejzik, and Pamela Darling; grandchildren Matthew (Jennifer) Hurlbut, Erika Lindmark, Chandra (Andrew) Mullenix, Rodney Hurlbut, Brian (Kirsten) Lindmark, Nicholas (Sasha) Fregia, Mara Motejzik, and Grace McGuan; great-grandchildren Owen Lindmark, Candice Mullenix, Patricia Mullenix, Oliver Hurlbut, and Silvia Hurlbut.
Maryann devoted her life to caring for others. She served as Girl Scout Troop Leader, braved the role of Boy Scout Den Mother, sewed elaborate Halloween costumes, cooked precarious mountains of delicate crêpes, patched plaster walls, built her own cabinets, made the best out of everything and always came out stronger. She was rich in resilience and resourcefulness and generous with her attention, her affection, and her foot rubs. She leaves us all better for having been loved by her and for having been shown how to love through her.
Maryann donated her body to the
Anatomical Gift Association
in an effort to help healthcare professionals learn more about the human body and to advance medical research.
A memorial service may be scheduled at a later date when it is safe for family and friends to gather together again.
