Mary A. Sorensen, age 78, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026. She was born August 19, 1948 in Oak Park, IL to Harold & Dorothy Sorensen.

Mary Sorensen grew up in Broadview with her parents and her younger brother, Don. Her childhood and family roots remained an important part of who she was throughout her life, and she cherished the memories they made together.

Mary lived a life filled with faith, family, friendship, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that made each day special. She worked as a secretary at OAG, where she was known for her dedication and warm personality.

Mary had a love for antiques and cherished the beauty and history found in things from the past. She enjoyed reading the classics, and Gone with the Wind was her favorite movie. She especially treasured sharing stories of her family heritage and keeping those memories and traditions alive for generations to come. Mary was very social and loved spending time with her family and friends, whether gathered around a table sharing stories, enjoying a shopping trip, or simply making memories together.

Her faith was a central part of her life. Mary faithfully served in both children’s ministry and seniors ministry at her church, sharing her time, compassion, and love with others. She had a strong and enduring faith that guided the way she lived and cared for those around her.

Mary will be remembered for her love of people, her appreciation for history and family, her generous spirit, and the many stories and memories she shared with those she loved. Her presence brought warmth and connection to the lives of so many, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her brother Donald (Ginny) Sorensen; her nieces & nephews: Chrissy Sorensen, Mark (Kelly) Sorensen, Sarah (Jackson) Vandiver & Angela (Alex) Turner; her great-nieces & great-nephews: Luke, JJ, Ryan, Emma, Charlotte, Tyler & Lilah. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be held at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187 on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park, Illinois.
