Obituary

Mary Seaberg

April 4, 1935 – February 14, 2025

Mary Seaberg, age 89, a longtime resident of Wheaton, Illinois went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Westbridge Assisted Living in Wheaton. She was born in St Charles, Illinois on April 4, 1935, to Leonard and Elsie Lindgren.  Mary was the firstborn and from a young age as the oldest of seven children, Mary exhibited a remarkable nurturing and caring love for others. She attended St Charles High School and then went on to West Suburban School of Nursing. It was while there that she was introduced by friends to Bob who was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base.  Bob and Mary were married in 1957 in St Charles and settled in that area where Mary worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Delnor Hospital and Bob worked for Admiral TV and later Tektronix. Bob and Mary welcomed Rob and Lynda to their family and as a young family decided to take a leave of absence from their jobs to go as short-term missionaries to Quito, Ecuador for two years. Mary worked part time in the hospital and Bob used his radio and TV expertise to construct antennas for HCJB radio station. The family returned to the states in 1964 and moved to Wheaton, mainly because they attended and were supported by the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church.  Mary then took a break from her professional nursing career and was a full-time mom and volunteer.  In 1970, they welcomed their third child, Allyson, into the family.

When the kids were older, Mary took a refresher course, updated her license and returned to nursing. She worked as a clinical nurse, a home health care / hospice nurse, a health and nutrition nurse advisor through Central DuPage Hospital (CDH), and lastly on staff as a Parish Nurse at the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church. Mary's unwavering faith in God was the cornerstone of her life, and she was known for her care, compassion and love for others. Even after her retirement, she continued to use her skills and compassion to arrange and deliver flowers to those she knew needed a bit of encouragement!  In her last years, she sent cards to residents and regularly shared candy bars with staff members at Wyndemere and Westbridge where she lived.

Mary is survived by her children, Rob (Jenny) Seaberg, Lynda (Mark) Richert, and Allyson (Todd) Barron; her ten grandchildren, Ryan (Kairsta) Richert, Jamille (Ben) Stolarski, Alia (Michael) Suchomski, Matthew (Ariana) Richert, Karli (Paul) Dittus, Jordan (Christine) Richert, Mari (Devin) Price, Elsa (James Luk) Barron, Annika Barron and Linnea Barron; and 26 great grandchildren with an additional two on the way.  She is also survived by her siblings Leonard (Joni) Lindgren (Elgin, IL), Ruth Ott (Oswego, IL), Lois (Tom) Lerra (Boston, MA), Grace Holdaway (Seal Beach, CA), John (Virginia) Lindgren (Post Falls, ID) and sister-in-law Mona Lindgren (St Charles, IL) as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 59 years, Robert Seaberg, her parents and stepmother, her brother, Mark Lindgren, and brothers-in-law James Ott and Roger Holdaway.
