Mary A. Scavo, age 65, a resident of Gahanna, OH and formerly of West Chicago, IL died Thursday, July 19 in Columbus. She was born on December 12, 1946.
Mary worked as an insurance agent at State Farm for over 10 years. She was a dedicated mother and active member of her community; a member of the Special Olympics; and a Cum Christo member. Mary was well known by all who met her and made a positive difference in many people's lives. She forever strove to be the best wife, mother, and friend she could be.
She is survived by her three children, Angela (Randy) Bohanan of Columbus, OH, Joseph (Dora) Scavo of Bolingbrook, IL and Matthew Scavo of Gahanna, OH.; her two grandchildren, Attilia and Marcello Scavo; her siblings, Bobbie Bade, Don Berg, Jack Berg, Tom Berg, Margaret Berg DeJong, and William Berg; and her five honorary sons, John Graham, Jeff Donato, Mark Ballesteros, Greg Price, and Tareq Matalqa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reidar and Beatrice Berg, her husband, Anthony Scavo, and her sisters Rita Cornille and Judy Berg.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 4-9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, IL. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church 310 S. Wheaton Ave. Wheaton, IL 60187.
