Mary S. Johnson, age 91, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at home.  She was born August 1, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland to John & Mary Strickland.

Mrs. Johnson had a passion for bridge and was an accomplished Bronze Life Master with over 900 points. She had an energetic personality who volunteered on numerous committees, at the front desk, and in the gift shop of her community. Traveling was fascinating for her. In her mid-80's she took a cruise around the world. During her lifetime, she visited 6 continents. She loved to garden and grow vegetables. She participated in the home grown tomato contest at Windsor Park, in which she was a strong, annual competitor.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Kurt) Simon of Winfield, IL; her two grandchildren, Kelly (Mark) Singley of Western Springs, IL and Erik Simon of Chicago, IL; her great-grandchildren Callum & Brooklyn Singley; and her brother John (the late Ronnie) Strickland of Ft. Myers, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elbert Laurence "Larry" Johnson, Jr.

Services will be private.
