Obituary

"Mitzi" LaMaster, age 85, a resident of Wheaton, passed after a brief illness on September 4, 2017, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. She was born Mary Ellen Warner to Karl Redfield Warner and Catherine Lucille Shea Warner, in Sioux City. She graduated from Central High School in 1950. She married Jack Bonynge in 1958 and moved to the Chicago area settling in Wheaton in 1964. After Jack's passing in 1985 she married Dean LaMaster in 1990, who passed in1994.

She grew up in the backdrop of the Great Depression and World War II surrounded by her sisters Maureen Bringle and Margaret Schwinn and brothers Karl and Keith. All have proceeded her in death. A son, Ronald and daughter Renee Bonynge, have proceeded her as well.

She is survived by her son, Jim Bonynge of Stephens City, VA., step daughters Cathy Handley of Annapolis, MD. and DeeDee (Les) Strub of Montezuma, IA, her sisters in law Betty Warner of Iowa City and Patty Warner of Minneapolis, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mitzi had a life-long passion for golf, a game she was taught by her father and a love she shared with her siblings. Like all of them, Mitzi had an infectious smile, a mischievous side, and an ability to make all who met her feel better about themselves.

Mitzi enjoyed working at various businesses in the local area and was known for being able to take dictation and type effortlessly without error. She understood customer service and was willing to go the extra mile to meet the needs of the customer.

Mitzi's faith was a constant and as an active member of Gary United Methodist Church which allowed her to weather many challenging life situations because of it. She also was a mentor to many individual and family members, offering encouragement and support. Once you were a friend of Mitzi's it was life long and she had great listening skills. Mitzi could reach out to people when a compassionate hand was needed. She was always on the hunt for the perfect card to send to friends and love ones. She was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. until the start of a memorial service to be held at 1:00 p.m. at Gary Methodist Church . Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn, IL.
