Mary A. Lowry's Obituary
Mary A. Lowry, age 97, a long-time resident of Wheaton, IL, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Wynscape Nursing Home. She was born November 23, 1915, in Santa Barbara, CA.
Mary graduated from the University of Illinois in 1936. She was a personnel counselor at Western Electric Hawthorne Works, involved in the landmark industrial psychology experiments. She married in 1942, raised two children, and was an active volunteer for the Hi Hat Shop in Wheaton from 1960 until 1980. She served on the Board of Trustees of Community Hospital, Geneva, for six years. She and her husband moved to Wyndemere Retirement Center in Wheaton when it opened in 1993.
She is survived by her children, Ann and L. Alan (Mary Lou), and grandchildren Caroline and Eugene.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence A. Lowry, and her granddaughter Joanna.
Services and interment are private at Wheaton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to CNS Home Health and Hospice, 690 E. North Ave., Carol Stream, IL 60188.
