IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary W.
Keith
June 18, 1927 – June 22, 2025
Mary Wilson Keith, age 98, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025. She was born on June 18, 1927, in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Mary left Scotland for Canada in 1951 after marrying Ian Keith, also of Aberdeen. She expected to stay in Canada for just two years while Ian finished school. But when Ian got a job in Chicago, Mary realized that America would become her new home. She stayed home to care for their children - Susan, Robert, and Sally - and loved hosting people in her home. Everyone was welcomed in for a meal or a cup of tea. Mary was also active in many Bible studies and Christian Women's Clubs. She also loved to fill her time with volunteer work. During her life, she volunteered in a tea room at Quincy Hospital, taught reading to adults, delivered Meals on Wheels, ran bingo at Good Samaritan Old Folks Home in Mt. Carroll, and most recently collected pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House.
Mary loved Jesus. She accepted Christ as her Savior when she was twelve. Mary longed to demonstrate the love of Jesus to others and be a witness for Him. One of the verses underlined in her Bible was from John 1:12: "But to all who received Him, He gave the right to become children of God. All they needed to do was to trust Him to save them…" She was confident that God was preparing a place for her in heaven.
Mary will be deeply missed by her children: Susan (Mark Granzow), Rob (Deb), and Sally; her grandchildren: Allison Granzow, Aimee (Nate Friedrichsen), Danny Granzow (Sarah), Brandon Keith (Jessica), Tyler Keith (Tracey), Carly (Greg Aagaard), and Connor Keith (Elizabeth); and her great-grandchildren: Owen, Gus, Judson, and Ruby Friedrichsen; Sully Granzow; Ella, Griffin, Brynlee, and Lily Keith; Genevieve Keith; Adley, Olive, and Eden Aagaard; and Sadie Keith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ian Keith.
A visitation will be held at Bethany Chapel, 404 N. President St., Wheaton, IL 60187, on Saturday, July 26, from 9:30 a.m. until the memorial service begins at 10:30 a.m. A live stream of the service will be available here: Services for Mary Keith
