Mary F. Johnson, 93, a longtime resident of Wheaton, Illinois, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Community Nursing and Rehabilitation (now Arista Healthcare) in Naperville. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska on February 14, 1925 as one of the five children of Charles D. and Mary Loretta Gould.
She met Francis M. Johnson while they were working for the Union Pacific Railroad, and they married on December 27, 1948 in Omaha. Their married life started there and continued through several states, the births of seven children and their fortieth anniversary.
Fran was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who raised her children while packing for cross-country moves, sewing Halloween costumes, and holding countless birthday parties. She was a loyal Cubs fan who was thrilled that she lived to see a Cubs World Series victory. Her life revolved around family, and her most important role was expressed in around the clock care for her son, Jamie, which she provided with patience, love and complete devotion for over 50 years.
She is survived by her children, Adrienne Johnson (Fred) Goodwin, Charles C. Johnson, Carol E. (Michael King) Johnson, James B. Johnson, Mary V. (Tim) Fahey, and Nancy Johnson (Dennis) Busch; six grandchildren, Graham, Jason (Renee), Gerald (Maria), Josh (Leah), Adam (Jenny) and Gillian (Ben); three great-grandchildren, Isaac, Landon and Oliver; her sister-in-law, Carol Gould; her brother-in-law, Richard Damon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis M.; her daughter, Katherine A. (Marc Dufour) Johnson; and her parents and siblings.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at
St. Michael Catholic Church

Interment will follow at
St. Michael Cemetery, Wheaton
