Mary Elizabeth Hausten, 83, a resident of Wheaton, died Thursday, March 20 at home.

She married David R. Hausten in 1954 and moved to Wheaton. She had a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Northern IL University. Mary was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Chi Omega sororities. Throughout her life she was an active volunteer in many school and community activities including, the PTA (past president), Girl Scouts, and St. Matthew United Church of Christ where she had served as president of Women's Fellowship, was co-chairperson of Seekers and numerous other capacities. She taught art at the Bartlett Learning Center and was the Office Manager at Artron Products. She loved to travel and was a watercolor artist.

She is survived by her four children, Michael Dain (Carol) Hill of Henderson, KY, Dr. Rebecca (Kevin Cole) Hausten of Wheaton, Lisa (Kirk Stubbee) Hausten of Wheaton, and Julie (John) Price of Batavia; and her grandchildren Dawson, Griffin, and Christian Price, Reid and Brooke Stubbee, Rachael Cole, Mary Opal Fly Woolley, and Michelle Diane Woolley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Roy Hausten.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 27, from 4-8 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held Friday, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Matthew United Church of Christ, 1420 S. Gables, Wheaton, IL 60187.
