Mary Giersch, age 88, a resident of Bartlett, and formerly a longtime resident of Addison and Chicago, IL, died Monday, May 26, at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. She was born August 16, 1919 in Chicago.
Mary was a longtime member of Mayfair Bible Church and also of Midwest Bible Church in Chicago. She volunteered at the Midwestern Christian Academy for many years. She was known for her sense of humor. People appreciated her candor and her love of life. She very much valued her friendships and loved her family.
She is survived by her two children, Len (Candise) Giersch of San Jose, CA, and Sue (Scott) Etter of Algonquin, IL; three granddaughters, Ashley, Stacie, and Melissa; her nephew, Gary Geahos; and two nieces, Carol Shutty, and Virginia Giersch.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Leonard in 1982; three brothers; and two sisters.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, from 4-8 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, May 30 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago.
